D'adamo Institute for the Advancement of Natural Therapies

This article is a Work in Progress. Last edit 4/1/08

I have been a patient of the D'adamo Institute for the Advancement of Natural Therapies that is headed by Dr James D'adamo, the pioneer of the blood type diet, since November 2006.

I heard about Dr. James D'adamo in 2000 after I discovered his son's book Eat Right 4 Your Type. I remember talking to someone about Eat Right 4 Your Type and learned that his father had an office here in New Hampshire in Portsmouth, about 35 minutes from where I live. Soon thereafter I attended a presentation at a bookstore where he was talking about the blood type diet. Dr. D'adamo has two books titled One man's food--is someone else's poison and The D'Adamo Diet. The information he presented was very informative. His diet is different from his sons. I would compare the foods in The D'Adamo Diet with Eat Right 4 Your Type and I noticed that The D'adamo Diet was more accurate, based on my reaction to the food. Over the years, I would collect health and diet books. They all have parts of information that are good and I would learn something but those would always remain on the shelf. I always went back to The D'Adamo Diet by Dr. James D'adamo.

In 2000 I called for an appointment with Dr D'adamo. Unfortunately, we were not able to afford going to see him. In 2006, I started attending a Messianic congregation and I met someone who was a patient of the D'adamo Institute. She encouraged me to go to the clinic. My health, up to this point, was managed by myself with information I found in books or online. I had come a long way but there were a few issues that I could not resolve. I decided to go to the D'adamo Institute. It is expensive and a sacrifice but it is well worth it.

My first appointment was in November 2006, right before Thanksgiving! Not exactly the best time to change your diet! Going to the D'adamo clinic is different than going to an allopathic doctor. Before you come to your appointment you fill out a medical history or symptom form but the doctor does not look at it immediately. They diagnose you with your own body by analyzing your eyes through iridology, your pulse, blood sugar, blood pressure, physical examination, and, of course, your blood type. The D'adamo Institute uses sub-blood types, I'm not sure what they do with the blood to determine the sub-blood type but I do know that the sub-blood type occurs because of the different blood types your parents have and this sub-blood type determines your diet and exercise. (Dr. D'adamo goes into detail about sub-types in his book The D'adamo Diet)

On one hand, I wish I would of gone sooner, yet on the other hand, there has been so many things I've learned and our lives would be so different if I hadn't searched for what God wanted for my health. My experiences have had a terrific influence on my life and my children's life.
