Cold Sores

At the worst point of my sickness I was breaking out with cold sores on my lips continually, sometimes with more than one. There are a lot of theories of why they come out and I am sure there is a "trigger" whether it be a food, stress, exposure to the elements or hormones. About 85% of the population carries the herpes simplex I virus, the difference is they have an immune system to keep the virus under control. As I've gotten healthier and started to eat a biblically kosher diet I have seen less and less cold sores. I do have a solution to lessen the cold sore once it has started, it totally removes the swelling part, dries it up and conceals it better.

Get a prescription for Acyclovir cream (brand name is Zovirax) made for cold sores. If I had to get something over the counter I would get an l-lysine cream. Also purchase Dr Scholl's Original Foot Powder.

At the first sign of a developing cold sore when there is local tenderness with a burning or tingling sensation or the beginning of a small bump take a little bit of the Acyclovir cream. Don't pat it on, take it and rub it in really good so the medicine gets in. Then take a little bit of the powder and put it in your palm and using a cotton ball as a powder puff put it right on the cold sore. If I'm not going out I cover it really good and leave it. If I have to go out then I would cover it and brush it off lightly. Keep doing it as often as you remember and as long as you can. You will be able to tell when it's healing or it's time to stop.

That's it. I'm not sure exactly why it works, I'm guessing the medicine attacks it and the powder drys it up.

Cowardice asks the question: is it safe? Expediency asks the question: is it politic? Vanity asks the question: is it popular? But conscience asks the question: is it right? And there comes a time...
