Kyrieology's AnniversaryAugust 2007 marked Kyrieology's 2-year anniversary! Thanks to EnSky Corporation's wonderful search engine placement capabilities we’ve had quite a number of hits. I am happy to share my testimonies concerning God and health. If you’ve been here before then you know that the two are intermingled. After two years, I still believe that if you eat a Kosher diet you will have better health that will take you through to the millennium. I still believe you can walk in the presence of God and have miracles in your life. There is one huge life altering change in my life— not one for the weak hearted in faith. I’ve changed my “affiliation”, I no longer consider myself an “evangelical Christian”, I am now a Messianic or Messianic Christian. I’d like to explain how I came to believe, what I believe. Although when I look back through my life I can see He was calling me the whole time but it really evolved from these three steps: Step One: Kosher DietFollowing a Kosher diet opened my eyes to God’s laws. I began to learn that God gave those laws for a reason and it was because He loves us. You can read under WWJE, here on Kyrieology, more of my story and the articles I’ve compiled regarding the scientific studies of Kosher foods. Step Two: Easter 2005Every mainstream Christian religion celebrates Easter and usually it falls on the same weekend as Passover. Easter in 2005 was different. Easter and Passover were five weeks apart. That really bothered me. Christ is our Passover Lamb and to have Easter and Passover so far apart just didn’t seem right. I remember talking to my husband and saying “Next year let’s celebrate Passover.” Click to read about Our First Passover. Step Three: Commandment Number 4Years ago I was challenged by a cousin if, as a Christian, I knew the 10 Commandments. I didn’t. So after that experience I learned the 10 Commandments and would test myself periodically to make sure I still remembered them. One day as I was reciting them to myself I came to number 4: “Honor the Sabbath and keep it holy.” All of a sudden a light bulb went on and in my mind and I heard “Sunday is not the Sabbath”. It was a really surreal moment. I’ve said the Ten Commandments hundreds of times and I never thought twice about Sunday not being the Sabbath. “Honor the Sabbath, keep it holy” kept going through my head and I had to do something about it. At the time we were attending Durham Evangelical Church (DEC) but I sensed a change in the air. I had to find a church that honored the true Sabbath— Saturday. Now when you’re looking for a church that holds services on Saturday you are very limited. Thankfully, while looking at a church directory in the newspaper I saw an advertisement for Concord Messianic Fellowship with services on Saturday. We attended soon after. The service and sermons are enlightening— my eyes were opened to truth. Yeshua was Hebrew and He followed Torah, to fully understand what He said you need to know Torah. I learn something new every time. The fellowship is a small group of wonderful people (like a small group in a mega-church). Interestingly enough, one Saturday I asked the Teacher how many people were Jewish that attended the service, he looked around at the 14 members (not including my family) and said “2”. I was surprised! I wasn't the only gentile led to this path! As stated in the opening paragraph, this decision is “not one for the weak hearted in faith”. You start following a path that Yeshua followed. The path is narrower than mainstream christianity yet ironically you find freedom and best of all you find God. The one true God. You start marching to a different drummer. The day you worship changes, your Holy Days (holidays) do not remain the same, you eat different and all of the changes bring you joy. You are walking as Yeshua walked, you’re honoring the Father as Yeshua honored his Father and at first you don’t understand but then He reveals the “why” to you. A few months before this journey, I was involved in a small group and within this group I remember lamenting that “christians are supposed to be different from the world and I’m going to find out how.” I found out how: by walking as Yeshua walked here on earth. Many ask the question, “What does a Messianic believe?” I will give a short, foundational answer and I speak for myself and is not exhaustive. Messianic’s believe that Yeshua HaMashiach is the Messiah. We believe that Torah (the first five books Bible) are still valid for today. We follow the feasts that God instituted in these five books, as well as, a few others that Yeshua HaMashiach celebrated. We follow a Biblical Kosher diet. We honor the Sabbath (Saturday). We believe in the Old Testament (called the Tanakh) and the New Testament. We believe that Yeshua rose from the dead and will come again and reign for 1,000 years. Finally, we follow the biblical laws and not the oral laws although the oral law does come to play in honoring the Father, as Yeshua honored His Father. I pray this article lights up a fire within you and that you will reflect back on your life and how God has been calling you. Have you ever wondered why you worship on sunday? Have you stumbled upon a Jewish service? Do you have a special place in your heart for the Jewish people? Have you incorporated some of the Jewish practices in your worship? I encourage you to take to path that Yeshua followed. Really… you won’t regret it. Posted on December 31, 2007 |
